After leaving the park, one of the students and I walked down to the beach area closest to our hotel. The beach here is quite rocky, but it doesn’t stop people from going out to surf. There are lots of surf schools here. I didn’t get into the water, but it looked kind of cool as everyone was wearing wetsuits who were surfing. The views walking down to the beach were really beautiful.
You’ll notice that it looks cloudy and overcast, making it hard to see the ocean well. It does get cloudy and overcast here, but it’s more of a constant fog that comes in off of the ocean. Last night the fog was so thick that you couldn’t even see the tops of the buildings in the mall area down by the ocean.
One of the nicer restaurants in the area (we haven’t eaten here yet) is set down on one of the outcroppings off of the beach. This is the La Rosa Nautica.
Some of us will be going to eat at this restaurant later, so we’ll have more on this next week.
And for those of you who are interested in seeing and hearing the ocean as it laps up to the rocky beach here in Lima, you can check out this short video.
